The Second Public Message of ‘Kenji Goto Jogo’ to his Family and the Government of Japan
Kenji Goto Jogo’s voice sounds firm, with a little panic creeping in as he exfoliates the Islamic State’s latest demands.
Sounding annoyed, he admonishes the Jordanian Governments to stop procrastinating with the prisoner exchange of Sajida al-Rishawi, imprisoned in Jordan in 2005 for her part (albeit failed) in an attempted suicide bombing as part of the 2005 Amman bomb attacks.
Kenji is seen holding an image of a Jordanian pilot, Flight Lieutenant Moaz Youssef al-Kasasbeh, who was captured in December 2014,(here) after allegedly being hit with a surface to air missile.
The dialogue spells out what will happen if the demands are not met,..and have a final 24 hours on Tuesday to make this decision.
“it will mean they are responsible for the death of their pilot, which will then be followed by mine”
Protests have taken place in Amman with people demanding the Government meet Islamic State demands.
Japanese PM Mr Abe said Japan was working with Jordan to secure their release.
A third video message released January 28 reiterates the prisoner swop deadline,..Thursday sundown.(here)
