In another high profile hack, the Associated Press twitter account reported Barack Obama’s injury in a White House explosion, temporarily wiping billions from stock markets. Behind that attack was the Syrian Electronic Army – the Assad regime’s fightback against its opponents. The internet in Syria was renowned for being slow, but suddenly it speeded up, as the Syrian security agencies realised it would lead them to people protesting against the government.
